General Information

Visiting

As our aim is to make our residents and their families feel at home, Trevu does not have set visiting hours. However, we suggest visiting is during the hours of 10.00am and 9.00pm. Private areas for visiting can be arranged on request to the Director of Nursing or Lifestyle Co ordinator.

Meals

All meals are prepared by our very experienced catering staff on site. Our catering staff pride themselves in providing nutritional, appetising and well presented meals. We encourage residents to participate in menu selection via the Residents Meeting and by individual discussion with senior staff. Morning tea, afternoon tea and evening supper are available. Cultural dietary needs are also accommodated.

Special occasions such as birthdays are recognised and celebrated.

Family or friends are also welcome to bring in a meal if they wish.

Alcohol

Residents may consume alcoholic beverages within moderation.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in the building, however, residents may smoke outside on the verandahs, in the courtyard and in the grounds to the extent that they are able, with safety and without supervision.

Absence from Trevu

The Government supports residents to take leave from aged care facilities by continuing to pay the Residential Care Subsidy for the resident. The resident is still obliged to pay their component of fees while on leave.

Social Leave — Residents can spend up to 52 nights away from the Home each year.

Hospital Leave — If a temporary transfer is required to an acute hospital for treatment, there is no limit on the number of days the resident is absent.

Family Involvement

The transition phase of moving into an aged care facility can be daunting and unsettling for most people. We at Trevu recognise this factor and try to develop a partnership with the resident and their family during the settling in period and thereafter

It is very beneficial for family members to maintain as high a level of contact as is possible. There are a range of activities that families can assist with in addition to visiting such as day outings, shopping for personal items, taking the person for appointments, bringing in their pet (if applicable) and assistance with activities within the Home.

Volunteers

Trevu has very dedicated volunteers who visit, some with their animal companions, on a regular basis. The touch from an animal can create incredible responses. Other volunteers play the organ, sing and help with craft activities. These very important people are also a part of our Team who help provide a warm, home like environment
